Long waiting times in the office, as only one attendant on shift. An error in electronic booking system had me presented with an actual truck, even though I've booked a High Ceiling Van.No such thing available in Ballina apparently.Desk attendant was friendly, but could not do more than offer me a low ceiling van the next day. I made it work, but it wasn't the easy move I had hoped for.
I had a lovely experience with Thrifty at Ballina Airport. The attendant was succinct with the conditions of rental and paperwork was completed in an efficient manner. She ever came to the parking bays to check if everything was alright, and we even shared a brief conversation on how it takes getting used to driving a new car.Our hire car was better than anticipated, and judging from the mileage it's safe to say Thrifty Ballina had recently replaced their fleet. Another family commented on how they'd booked a small Kia hatchback and we're also pleasantly surprised with their upgrade.Thank you Thrifty for such a breezy experience with your car rental service. Definitely made my birthday trip to Byron Bay that little bit more special :)
Desk was unattended. Called the attendant. Said they would be down in "2 seconds" . This actually meant 10 minutes or more. Would have been great to have a realistic time frame for that at least.
I would give no starts if I could. I am extremely disappointed that I signed the contract, got given the keys and only then told that a hail storm was about to hit. Little did I know that none of their cars are stored undercover and that I now would be liable for the hail damage. I see this as a very sneaky way of making sure they didn't have to claim the damage on their own insurance which would raise their premiums. Needless to say their prior knowledge made it a very unfair situation. Where was I supposed to take the car to protect it??????
